On Day 19: God wants you to know, that He notices the sacrifice that you are making in fasting. He doesn't take fasting 'lightly'. You can finish this. You can do it!
Your mood, your emotions, your feelings and your thoughts, will be directly influenced by the people you are associated with. The words that you constantly hear from your circles of influence are as equally important as is your self-talk in achieving peak performance. Take a moment to study the people you are associated with, and assess whether or not they are a good influence on you and your life. Based on your evaluation, perhaps it is time to add some new people to your circle of influence who are going to impact you in a positive way. Realizing this, and that you can also have a positive influence on the people around you, is important for peak performance. To have a positive influence on others is only possible though, by being rigorous about the words that you use in your life. Take a moment to study what type of words you use.
A boomerang is a great instrument to illustrate the power that words have. In the same way that a boomerang returns after its launch, so do the words that you use. For example, the natural response from a person who is given encouragement is to return that encouragement to you. As a smile is another aspect of the mouth that can actually be treated like a silent word, it also is like a boomerang capable of changing an entire mood as it is received from someone and then returned. Paying a sincere compliment also takes on the qualities of a boomerang. Paying a compliment is a real opportunity to build self-esteem, as this is the basis upon which self-esteem is built. Society is slowly forgetting the importance of using manners, however, manners are extremely significant in all areas of life, especially in a marriage. Rather than giving your partner an order to perform a task, if you can use words such as ‘please’ and ‘thank-you’, you will show a special respect for your partner that will also be like a boomerang for you. The significance of the words ‘please’ and ‘thank-you’ are obvious when you realize how often they are repeated during the process of teaching a child to speak.
