Welcome to Day 1: I am soooo excited! God has already been at work on my behalf today! Remember, YOU CAN DO THIS... you will want to make sure that you are spending quality time with God and listening to what He wants to say to you. This is where your multi-colored pen will come in handy. I use the black to journal, blue for what others speak into my life, green for writing down scripture, and red for the things that God speaks to me.. So, begin by writing the day, date, time, and place on your first page and map out your alone time with God. Set your timer for one hour. If distractions come, stop the timer and come back to it!
(Self-Confrontation) Instead of pleasing or exalting ourselves, scripture tells us to examine (or confront) and humble ourselves (Matthew 23:12; I Corinthians 11:31). We must do this because our heart is deceitful, desperately wicked, and beyond full understanding (Jeremiah 17:9). The first step in self-confrontation is to realize our own sinful, lost condition before God and, second, to turn to God as our only hope of eternal salvation (Romans 6:23). He provides salvation through faith as a free gift of His grace, NOT because of any good thing that you or I have done.
Self-confrontation must continue throughout our Christian walk to avoid the hypocrisy of judging the failures of others without first examining our own life in a biblical manner. Most importantly, self-confrontation must be achieved in accordance with the Word of God (II Timothy 3:16-17, Heb. 4:12). Remember, The Holy Spirit will assist you in confronting yourself to face your own sins, failures, and shortcoming. Then He will comfort you, teach you, and guide you into all truth. We must determine TODAY, if we are seeking to please ourselves or seeking to please God in all we think and do. This personal discipleship we will be doing is not to learn how to save our life but instead how to lose it for Jesus' sake. (Matt. 16:24-25; Luke 9:23-24) through the process of evaluating ourselves biblically.
May God bless you as you faithfully begin this lifelong process of biblical self-confrontation.
Blessings,
Cathie

Right on Sister ... I am just getting caught up on reading this blog and I am HIGHLY encouraged by your writings so far. I agree that self-examination will lead us to freedom of self-concern...for what we are aware of - we can confess and turn over to our Abba Father.
Thank you for all of your sharing - it is blessing me so much.
